Keeping Face (or the effort to do so)

1. Who doesn't love a guy who knows how to appreciate the All-American double cheeseburger?

2. In action.

3. Golden Boy

4. Typical day - on the way to training

5. It's my way - or Michael Phelps Way

6. Don't you just adore a guy with a healthy sense of humor?

7. Ha. Ha. Ha. "You were saying I can't get the 8 Golds?" Ha. Ha. Ha.

8. Sheer concentration or doping thru iPod?

9. Honestly, Need I say more?

10. "Don't be afraid of the water, I'll save you if you drown."

Right.

Obviously, I've moved on.

I mean. As far as obsessions go.

Just recently I created a post discussing my obsessions--I think it was in June -- and believe you me that I can't even bare to read that post now -- and much less look at the pictures of Wu Chun. I've deleted all of his pictures from my laptop (so this is perhaps the only place I can see them unless I start tracking them around the web again) because as I've said I've jumped off the Wu Chun wagon.

Apparently, I've climbed on a new one. That is -- the wagon of "The Greatest Olympian Ever".
So since the olympics I've busied myself going through the haysack of article archives. (CNN, MSNBC, BBC, New York Times, Sports Illustrated, Baltimore Sun, etc.) And I had the most fun reading what they (the writers) said about him from years and years ago. At first I nipped the budding temptation to repost them or download them to my hard drive. However, what begun as an interest turned into a ritual quite instantaneously -- I had to keep coming back to the same articles to re-read them because they bring the most stupendous smile/s to my face. (Sad, and pathetic I know. But hey, whatever ticks for me, ticks for me.)

And I know, I know. I'd get off this obsession and be embarassed by all this in the end, but right this very moment -- I couldn't care any less. So, I've horded his nicest pictures into my laptop and turned them into my wallpaper and screen saver. And hey, I wasn't staring at his body most of the time -- shame on you for even thinking that. To me the attraction is the 1/3 goofy, 1/3 dorky and 1/3 boyish smile (and laughs come to that). And to top it off - the color of his eyes are a mystery to me. I'm pretty sure its dark but I could have sworn I saw them light-glinting gold (just like Edward in the book Twilight by Stephanie Meyer).

Oh well, I know whatever I say to defend myself I sound very teen-y bopper-y with a giant crush -- so I'd just say...'Nuff said on that.

What I was really wanting to do with this post is to upload my favourite pictures of him. (for when I've gotten off his bandwagon and deleted the whole lot from my laptop, or for like 10 years from now and I want to have a good laugh at myself - like I said, my purpose for maintaining this blog is mainly self-serving anyway.)

I think I did that exactly... Along with a half-hearted attempt to rationalize my irrational actions :)

*Note. sources of the pictures - i cannot recall, but quite obviously they aren't my own shots. Nor have I the intention to claim such a preposterous thought.
